ABA and related Autism Services

ABA and related Autism Services

Many children are often misunderstood and never enjoy the benefits of specialized therapy based on their individual challenges. At Kidspiration, every child is unique. We understand their individuality from years of experience, as well as knowledge gleaned from our professional, state-certified Staff and Therapists. One thing we do realize is Autism is real.

In 2018 the CDC determined that approximately 1 in 59 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Boys are four times more likely to be diagnosed with autism than girls. Most children were still being diagnosed after age 4, though autism can be reliably diagnosed as early as age 2. According to the Mayo Clinic, “...There is no one-size-fits-all treatment. The goal of treatment is to maximize your child's ability to function by reducing autism spectrum disorder symptoms and supporting development and learning. Early intervention during the preschool years can help your child learn critical social, communication, functional and behavioral skills.”

ABA

ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis and is used to help kids with Autism learn the functions needed to participate in daily life.  Kidspiration's biggest goals in ABA are to decrease problematic behaviors, increase communication and language skills, and improve other skills so that our kids are ready for public school.  We have BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) and RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) on staff 5 days a week. These professionals communicate with parents and teachers to help our clients have the easiest and most successful transitions possible. Autism Related Services

At Kidspiration, we realize Autism has a broad range of conditions that are characterized by challenges associated with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. Using ABA Techniques in our language-enriched classrooms which are specifically designed for kids on the spectrum, here are some of our goals when dealing with Autistic children:

  • Overcome difficulties associated with social interaction.

  • Determine the child’s specific talents, gifts, and interests. Once determined, utilize their uniqueness and leverage this in specialized therapy.

  • Determine which of the five senses are more prominent.

  • Help children deal with intense and prolonged emotional reactions.

  • Develop social interaction with other children and adults.

  • Overcome unusual emotional reactions and expressions.

  • Utilize therapy for children that want to do the same thing over and over again, or talk constantly about their unique interests.

  • Learn to cope with change in routine.

  • Learn to deal with color, smell, or texture of certain foods.

Research has shown that early intervention treatment services can greatly improve a child’s development. With our low teacher-to-child ratio, autistic children enjoy one-on-one attention every day. Our ASD Staff at Kidspiration are specialized in Autism Spectrum Disorder and stay up to date on intervention methods, utilizing a structure and curriculum that encourages dynamic intelligence, functional play, and improved social engagement. We also closely monitor your child’s progress and reactions while taking their medications.

When it comes to Autism Spectrum Disorder in children, it can be very hard to identify. If you suspect your child may have ASD, taking them to see a pediatric doctor is a good first step.

An important thing to remember when facing a potential diagnosis of ASD is that many people with this diagnosis live full, normal, healthy lives. Enrolling your child at Kidspiration is one of the best decisions you will ever make for your autistic child! Together, we can help conquer the challenges that your child faces, as well as equip them for the upcoming stages in life!
